Imperial Sardaukar are soldier-fanatics from the novel Dune by frank herbert. the Sardaukar troops are the foremost soldiers in the universe and are feared by all. They are secretly trained on the devastated Salusa Secundus, the Imperial Prison Planet, as the harsh conditions there ensure that only the strongest and most "ferocious" men survive. It is noted of Salusa that "the mortality rate among new prisoners is higher than sixty percent." Sardaukar training emphasizes ruthlessness, near-suicidal disregard for personal safety, and the use of cruelty as a standard weapon in order to weaken opponents with terror.
and here we have the MLP version of these guys. theyre just as strong and ferocious as theyre Dune counterparts only theyre frecken ponies. Theyre loyalty is to the crown and nothing else. hope you guys like it...

Mmmkay, why did you give him that ridiculous outfit from the mini series? I don't know if it was meant to be intimidating or refined or something, but it was downright laughable. They looked like goddamn Picasso fanclub with those dorky, overgrown (and improperly worn) berets of theirs - definitely not like the most feared warriors in universe.
Come to that, the rest of the costumes in the mini series (barring few exceptions like those worn by Atreides or Fremen) were also awful to the point of making me incapable of taking the whole thing seriously. I mean, how can they play straight when they're wearing something like this?
